Saturday 1st November was our Halloween and Fireworks night. Katie and Lucy dressed up as witches, with the head of the coven being Steph. Trev excelled himself again to the delight of all the children and adults and turned up as the unofficial club mascot, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS. The photos are not to be missed and will be uploaded to our Social Gallery soon.

Well Bust, actually! Perhaps not us, but our Airline, XL Airways... On the last Club Holiday of this year, Calne Divers packed up and headed for Gatwick for a week in the 5* Movenpick Resort in El Gouna, Egypt. Alas, it was not to be! En route to the airport, we discovered that XL had gone into administration and all aircraft belonging to the company had been grounded. We continued to the airport in the hope that we would be able to obtain transport via another airline, or even to a different destination.

Following the fantastic success of the first beginners training course, Calne Divers is once again opening it's doors to new members who wish to learn the art of Diving. A try-dive session is fully booked already for 25th September, and it has been decided to run a second session the week after, on 2nd October. Anyone interested in learning to dive in UK waters is welcome to attend, however preference on the night will be given to those who have contacted us in advance. If you wish to take part, please contact us using the form on the Contact Us page. There will be a small fee of £5 per diver for the try-dive, which is to cover Air, Pool Time and Insurance. Participants will be asked to complete a short medical form. There will, of course, be no pressure to continue training with Calne Divers. |

During the club camping weekend on August Bank Holiday weekend after Trev’s second dive on Sunday with Drew a young lady approached us to see if we could find her partners spectacles that had been accidentally knocked into the water further up the pier. Trev, supported by John and Pete, went into the water and after a 29 minute search successfully found the glasses much to the relief of the owner and his young lady who made a very nice donation to the club and a promise to also make a donation to the RNLI. |
